May Day Posies and Pollen under the Microscope

To mark the day that was in it and follow a little known tradition of casting wild flowers on the doorstep and window sills to secure good fortune for the year ahead, I colected some seasonal wild flowers and did same.  But I saved some for pollen analysis - so if the wet weather holds, I will make slides and post photos of the pollen which we view under a compound microscope at a magnification of 400. But first I'll take some photos of the flowers under a dissecting (stereo) microscope and hopefully show off the pollen in its natural state before mounting it on a microscope slide
