"Céir bheach" is Irish for beeswax.
Every September, after the harvest, we enter the local West Awake Honey Show.  Preparing honey, wax and candles takes up  to a month and of course, 2020 there was no honey show.

Instead, we turned our hands to making a moisturising cream that would be both healing, and very easily absorbed.  This meant that we had to find a way of emulsifying the oil-based ingredients such as johoba and beeswax, with water. We decided to use borax and we chose a very basic recipe with just two oils, beeswax and water, and without any scent, as our basic moisturiser. The results were delightful but we discovered that cosmetics containing borax can not be legally sold within the EU. .  So we are busy pursuing our next goal: changing the ingredients and getting the product approved by the HPRA ,(Health Products Regulatory Authority).  So, it could take awhile.  Please check in with us on our new journey and keep up to date on facebook. Míle buíochas.
